The Positano Outdoor Collection by Palais

Romy and Petra. Two lovers of beautiful, meaningful things and the great outdoors. Together, they brought the Positano Outdoor Collection to life — designed to add colour, comfort and character to outdoor spaces.

The idea behind the collection

Romy: When we moved to our farm, I dreamed of a garden filled with beautiful fabrics, sitting areas under trees and lots of flowers. But outdoor fabrics were mostly grey, beige or black — and that simply didn’t match my vision.

Living in the Netherlands also meant unpredictable weather. I wanted cushions that were both colourful and practical — pieces I didn’t have to move inside every time it rained. That’s how the idea of creating our own outdoor fabrics was born.

How the collaboration started

Romy: I messaged Petra on Instagram, telling her how impossible it was to find beautiful outdoor fabrics — and asking if she could design them with Palais. It turned out she was already working on something similar, and our first meeting sparked an instant connection.

Petra: We were already sampling fabrics with our weaving mill, so everything fell into place naturally. In the same week, we even received an order for an entire hotel terrace — a perfect start.

This is our third collection together, and we’ve grown so much along the way.

A remarkable detail

Petra: The durability of our fabrics still amazes me.

We tested the very first batch outside at the Palais HQ for over a year — exposed to rain, sun, snow, freezing temperatures and heat — and they were still in perfect condition.

The fabrics are water- and dirt-repellent, machine washable, soft to the touch and crafted without harmful coatings. Designed to last, in every sense.

Romy: And outdoor fringes — because why not?

Favourite pieces

Romy: Hard to choose, but our Grass Green Mako print is my absolute favourite. Nostalgic, vibrant and perfect when paired with fringes.

Petra: I’m in love with the Rosita pattern, named after Rosita Missoni — timeless and full of character.
